Six fit outs for Channel Islands Concessions

Challenge & Objectives

As part of the wider delivery by parent company Total Design Group, TDS Electrical was responsible for the complete electrical and lighting installation across six new in-store mobile retail concessions for Channel Islands Co-op.

Working within fully operational retail stores presented a significant challenge. Three concessions were located in Jersey and three in Guernsey, with all electrical works needing to be completed within a demanding two-week programme; one week before Christmas and one immediately after New Year.

The objective was to deliver safe, compliant electrical installations and high-quality lighting solutions while allowing each store to continue trading without disruption, ensuring every concession was ready for the client’s major launch.

Electrical Solution

Careful planning was essential from the outset. Working closely with the wider Total Design Group project team, TDS Electrical co-ordinated its installation programme across both islands to maintain progress within the compressed timescale.

Our engineers completed the full electrical installation for each concession, including new power supplies, lighting installations and all associated electrical infrastructure required for the new retail spaces. Every stage of the work was carefully planned around store operations, allowing installations to be completed safely while customers and staff continued using the stores.

Operating in live retail environments required close communication with other trades, strict adherence to health and safety procedures and meticulous scheduling to minimise disruption while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship.

Delivery

Despite the challenging programme and the busy Christmas trading period, TDS Electrical successfully completed all six electrical installations within the two-week schedule.

Each concession was handed over fully tested, compliant and ready for occupation, supporting the successful launch of Channel Islands Co-op’s new mobile retail offer. The project demonstrated TDS Electrical’s ability to deliver complex electrical installations in occupied environments, combining careful planning, technical expertise and a commitment to safe, high-quality delivery.
